Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Conducts psychological assessments, including test administration, interpretation, and recommendations for children adolescents and adults. Collaborates and provides consultation with treating physician, psychiatrist and Behavioral professional team to design and direct each individual member treatment plan.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Maintains Texas license, board certification or board eligibility in appropriate field.
  2. Uses best practice therapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  3. Maintains confidentiality and impartiality;
  4. Supports healthcare by liaising with professionals in the community and hospitals;
  5. Promotes health education in conjunction with PVHC’s Health Educators
  6. Coordinates with Navigators, Community Health Workers to provide referrals, increase family support, and create community atmosphere supporting mental and behavioral wellness practices.
  7. Provides both individual and group therapy.
  8. Provides required support to Physicians, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses.
  9. Collaborates with primary care, psychiatric and substance abuse providers in integrated treatment of patients with such indications.
  10. Manages resources to service targets as effectively as possible
  11. Uses Electronic Health Record for documentation and to maintain patient centered medical home accreditation
  12. Keeps up to date with medical developments, treatments and medications impact.
  13. Observes and assesses the work of trainee practitioners.
  14. Maintains a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
  15. Patient Centered Care: communicates fully and clearly with patient, engaging the patient in the treatment plan and implementation.
  16. Sees scheduled patients in an efficient manner and maintains productivity in accordance with best practices in the field.
  17. Insures all professional encounter activities are coded properly so that patient visits can be billed out on a daily basis
  18. Ensure timely completion of daily electronic records and closes all charts daily.  
  19. Follows guidelines and policies set forth in grants and contracts from such sources as Texas Department of State Health Services, Community Development Block Grant, and HRSA
  20. Attends and participates in meetings as assigned by CEO, CBHO and COO
  21. Performs related job functions to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  22. Supports billing department to ensure that the highest reimbursement rate is achieved. 
  23. Any other duties assigned by supervisor.


Job Qualifications

  1. Licensed PhD, PsyD, in clinical or counseling Psychology, required from an accredited college or university with current valid in good standing license to practice psychology in the State of Texas.

  1. Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty
  2. Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the State of Texas
  3. Bilingual in English and Spanish desired.
  4. Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)



EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year of experience in clinical behavioral health.

  1. Skill in operating a variety of office equipment including postage meter, computer and copier.
  2. Strong organizational skills to effectively perform multitasking.
  3. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.




  1. Ability to create a clinic atmosphere which encourages motivation, innovation, and high performance.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Required to sit, stand, walk and move about throughout the day; manual dexterity to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with arms and hands; occasionally climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel or crouch occasionally; talk and hear; vision abilities required include close vision, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.  Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and a traditional office environment exist.  May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric and medical crisis situations within the environment; some exposure to hazardous materials or physical risks requiring basic safety precautions; exposure to blood borne pathogens requiring PPE.  Exposure to virus, disease, and infection.
